The Motability Scheme with Hawco Group

We are an active supporter of the Motability Scheme, a nationwide charity set up to help disabled motorists remain independent and fully enjoy driving. Both Audi and Volkswagen assist eligible members with all the scheme has to offer, and at each of our showrooms, a dedicated Motability Specialist is on hand to handle your application.

How does the scheme work?

Motorists who successfully apply for the Motability Scheme use all or part of their mobility allowance to fund a lease on a new car. If eligible, you first decide which model meets your requirements, and this includes finding out whether the chosen vehicle is suitable for any adaptations that may be needed. Your chosen Motability dealership can help with this, and also discuss any optional extras that can be added to make driving more comfortable. An application is then made with the help of your scheme adviser, and they’ll handle all the paperwork on your behalf.

Am I eligible?

Scheme eligibility covers the following government-funded mobility allowances:

  • Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA)
  • Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of the Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
  • War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)

If you are receiving one of the above and have at least 12 months of awards remaining you are likely to be eligible, and there’s no upper age limit to apply. If you are the parent or guardian of a child over three years of age who receives the HRMC DLA, you can also order a car on their behalf.

What else does the scheme include?

On top of a new vehicle, your monthly payment covers:

  • Servicing and maintenance
  • Insurance
  • Annual road tax
  • Breakdown cover
  • Window and windscreen repairs and replacement
  • Replacement tyres
  • 60,000 mileage allowance over three years
  • Many cost-free adaptations.

By choosing Hawco Group, there’s also the satisfaction of choosing from reliable and well-equipped cars from two of the industry’s biggest names, with models such as the Polo, Golf and Tiguan from Volkswagen, and the Audi A3 and Q2.
