New A6 saloon and Avant
01 08 2008
The new generation Audi A6 saloon and Avant will soon be appearing on Highland roads. The entire A6 family - saloons and Avant estates - has been updated with prices for four-door models starting at £24,800 and Avants at £26,370. But while the bulk of sales will be in the more modest Avant TDI range, the headline car is the new V10 petrol RS 6 saloon that generates a mighty 574bhp and costs from £76,160. The four-door follows the arrival of its Avant sister some months previously at a cost of £77,730. Along with styling changes inside and out the new versions get updated engines promising 12% better fuel economy and smoother suspension to boost comfort.
The A6 4x4 models will also be fitted with the latest quattro system with 40/60 torque split. An all-new two-litre TDI joins the range with ultra-efficient common rail fuel injection with piezo injectors while all TDI engines get common rail technology. And to enhance its “green” credibility the A6 will also be available as an TDIe model with mechanical and aerodynamic refinements that will make its ‘e’ badge capable of delivering 53mpg and a 139g/km emission output for a two-litre turbodiesel unit.
